Imported textiles require a third-party inspection certificate

Recently, Egypt has promulgated a new ordinance on procedures for the testing of imported textiles and clothing. It requires that from June 15 onwards, imported textiles must present an international inspection certificate provided by the exporter and approved by the Egyptian General Administration of Import and Export Supervision.

The new law prohibits Egypt from importing clothing containing harmful carcinogenic dyes, harmful dyes, flame retardants, and cadmium, and restricts the formaldehyde content of baby clothes to 20 PPM. The formaldehyde content of direct contact with skin clothes is limited to 75 PPM, and the formaldehyde content of zero-skin-contact clothing Limited to 300PPM, the maximum lead content of baby clothes is 300PPM, the maximum amount of nickel released is 0.5μg/cm2/week, and the weight of phthalates is 0.1%. The labeling requirements include the country's origin, the name of the manufacturer, the importer, the registered trademark, and the fiber content.
