Emerald quality evaluation
The quality of emeralds is generally evaluated in terms of color, transparency, clarity, cut and weight, with color being the most important.
Emerald color
From emerald to dark green, the color should be evaluated according to the color tone, the depth of the green, the uniformity of the color distribution, without the mottled or slightly yellow or blue hue, medium to dark green as well. . The price of high quality emeralds is comparable to the quality diamonds of the same quality. The color distribution is not uniform. The lighter emerald is cheaper.
Transparency and clarity
Both transparency and clarity are mutually influential. Clarity can directly affect transparency. Generally, the internal impurities and cracks are less high. If there are many internal impurities, especially when there are many cracks, the degree of transparency will be affected. Good quality emeralds require small internal and small, and the naked eye is basically missing.
Emerald cut
The emerald is generally ground into a quadrilateral step, and the four corners are often worn away, called an emerald cut. This cut can be used to reflect the dark green of the emerald. Good quality emeralds generally use emerald cuts.
The weight of emerald is generally 0.2-0.3Ct. At present, the world's largest emerald crystal weighs 16020Ct. It is produced in Colombia's Mzo Mine. The British Museum of Nature has a very beautiful emerald with a length of 51cm and a weight of 1384Ct.
