positive words: self talk

Hello, everyone! It's been a whirlwind of activity around here lately, and I haven't had as much time to connect as I normally would. S has been staying with the grandparents all month, and it's funny how much more productive we've been without the usual distractions. Todd and I miss her terribly, but there's something special about having these uninterrupted moments together. Still, I can't wait to have her home and reunite with the whole family later this week. Recently, I took a quick trip to Nashville to teach my fitting workshop at Anna Maria Horner’s Craft South, and it was such an inspiring experience. You know how much I adore teaching this class—it’s always a joy to meet incredible women who are eager to learn. There were plenty of laughs, heartfelt stories, and shared meals, along with lots of sewing and technique exploration. One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching is helping people understand how to adapt patterns to their unique body shapes. Each session teaches me something new, and it never ceases to amaze me how far folks are willing to travel just to learn more about fitting. Here are some photos from the event—thank you to Anna Maria and Craft South for capturing these moments! ![Craft South Workshop](https://via.placeholder.com/580x544) Since I’ve been focusing a lot on women’s wear and creating well-fitting garments, I thought it might be interesting to dive into the topic of our bodies. We all have areas we wish were different, right? It’s so easy to get caught up in self-criticism, especially when shopping for clothes that never seem to fit quite right. Sewing gives me the freedom to create pieces tailored to my body, and I love sharing that skill with others through my fitting classes. Once you grasp the basics of fitting, you begin to realize that ready-to-wear clothing has its limits, and there’s no shame in needing adjustments. Something I’ve been reflecting on recently is how we talk to ourselves about our bodies. Do you ever find yourself thinking, “I hate my ___”? For me, watching this video featuring plus-sized model Robyn Lawley shifted my perspective. She addresses negativity with such grace and positivity—it’s truly inspiring. (The empowering part starts around 40 seconds in.) [Robyn Lawley Video](http://youtu.be/mg3tdqWSi6k) Since watching this, I’ve become more mindful of my internal dialogue. Being aware of what I say to myself has made a noticeable difference in how I view my body. A few days after watching the video, I came across this article that got me thinking—what if I changed my computer password to something positive about my body? Could altering the words I type daily influence my mindset? Of course, appreciating your body doesn’t mean you can’t strive for improvement. Once you embrace your body as it is, maybe your password could motivate you to focus on small changes. For instance, Todd and I recently started doing the Seven Minute Workout each morning. It’s amazing how effective such a short routine can be. While the first few days left us sore (understatement alert!), we’re already feeling stronger and more energized throughout the day. This got me thinking—what if I updated my password to something encouraging to keep me motivated for the rest of the year? Do you think we can simultaneously celebrate our bodies while still working toward improvements? How do you talk to yourself about your body? Let me know—I’d love to hear your thoughts! P.S. If you're interested in learning more about fitting techniques or improving your wardrobe, drop me a line. I'd be happy to share tips and resources! Stay tuned for updates—I'm excited about what we have coming up this fall!

Carbon fiber composites

Carbon fiber composites are materials made from carbon fibers and a polymer matrix, typically epoxy. Carbon fibers are thin strands of carbon atoms that are extremely strong and lightweight. They are made by heating synthetic fibers, such as polyacrylonitrile, and then carbonizing them at high temperatures.
