Sixty percent of children's clothing sampled in Sichuan is qualified as the main problem

Business News Agency, September 10th — In a recent announcement, the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision revealed the results of a special inspection on children’s clothing conducted during the first half of this year. Out of a total of 84 batches tested, only 62% met the required quality standards, raising concerns among parents and industry experts alike. According to data released by the bureau, in the first and second quarters of this year, inspectors examined 50 batches of children’s apparel produced by 34 different companies. These products were evaluated under a specific spot-check program and in accordance with national product standards. The findings showed that 31 batches passed the inspection, while 19 batches from 15 manufacturers failed. The primary issues identified in the non-compliant products included excessive levels of formaldehyde, improper pH balance, and incorrect fabric composition. These factors can pose potential health risks to children, especially due to their sensitive skin and prolonged exposure to clothing. The results have sparked discussions about the need for stricter quality control measures and more rigorous compliance checks within the children’s clothing industry. Experts suggest that both manufacturers and regulatory bodies should work together to ensure safer products reach the market. Parents are also advised to be more cautious when purchasing children’s clothing and to look for certified labels that indicate compliance with safety standards. This report highlights the importance of ongoing monitoring and transparency in maintaining product quality, particularly when it comes to items used by the most vulnerable consumers — children.
