Talk about live corals, dead corals and fallen corals

Living coral: The living coral referred to in gemology refers to the coral that is still alive when salvaging. After salvage, the surface has biological tissue, the bone marrow is rich in oil, so after processing, the gloss is bright, the texture is dense, and the toughness is also good. It is the raw material for processing high-grade coral products.

Dead coral: refers to the coral that has already died when salvaging. This kind of coral is soaked in sea water for a long time after being killed. It is not only eroded by oily water, but also has loose oily texture, rust spots, luster and toughness are weakened, and it is also invaded by coral organisms. A lot of insect holes are very poor coral material.

Inverted coral: It is actually a dead coral. It is only a short time to die. It is affected by seawater erosion and insect pests. Most of the processed texture is still not as good as living coral.
